In the midst of all the attention focusing on Google’s upcoming IPO, a new search engine has quietly entered the market. The company is called A9.com; the search engine, A9, is a new venture from Amazon.com.
A9 offers a number of unique tools that real estate professionals can use to improve their everyday research needs. First, in addition to providing searches through Web pages, A9 searches Amazon.com’s extensive book inventory. It searches pages within books and shows the viewer the excerpt and page number of the page from any book discovered in a search. All you have to do is click the page number to see the passage and page from the pertinent book.
A9 also provides the ability to create and adjust columns so that you can see more of your search on one page, as well as set columns based on Web pages, book titles & pages, and history. These settings are retained for the next time you use A9.
A9 allows you to search directly from any browser by typing a9.com/query. It stores past searches, which you can retrieve for future use, on its server. All past searches that are pulled back up in a new search are marked to show that they have been viewed and used before.
Finally, A9 has the unique ability of showing you more information about each search link simply by placing your cursor on the link. It gives you full, multiple paragraphs for reference, versus Google that only gives you a one line sampling.
Once you use A9.com you will not want to use any other search engine again—that is, until the next “better mouse trap” comes along. |
